    It is good to know what rock salt can do to our body positively. When I do my grocery, I see sea salt, rock salt, iodized salt among others. Are they different altogether? It can be confusing and I would normally grab either one without giving much thought.

  4. When I read the part about reducing water retention, I began to question the claims, but as I read on I started to realize there is consistency to the argument when considering the effect on insulin sensitivity.

    Increased insulin sensitivity means lower levels of insulin overall. In my research, I found that lower levels of insulin help the kidneys function properly to do what they were meant to do, namely to secrete excess sodium and water from your body. Insulin messes up this process, signaling the kidneys to reabsorb water.

    I am curious if you know which micronutrients are involved in this effect.

    I have read a little about the Himalayan salt before but as advice for intermittent fasting and body cleansing. Finding other benefits from this salt is good.

    I was really impressed that Himalayan rock salt helps for eczema. My brother suffers from eczema and he has tried his fair share of medication.

  8. Lily, this gives me a renewed energy to get Himalayan rock salt because I was always under the impression salt is bad but if provides all of these extensive benefits, then I think it’s benefits far outweigh any reservations anyone might have.

    I always had it in the cupboard but used it sparingly – now I’m going to be less cautious with it and even try it for external applications which seems to really help a lot with skin conditions and muscle relaxation.

    Wild animals also seek out salt tablets and rocks so there must be something hidden in this type of salt for mammalian physiology!

    How long have you been using it and do you use it in cooking as a straight replacement to table salt?
